Adventures Gone Wrong: When Boat Life Takes a Dangerous Turn

Out here things can become dangerous in the blink of an eye. One moment you’re cruising along and the next your world is flipped upside down. Literally.

This week we’re leaving Bocas Del Toro where we’ve spent the past seven weeks and we’re heading back east ultimately to Shelter Bay just outside the Panama Canal. Since we’re still without autopilot we’re hoping to stop at a stunning island called Escudo de Veraguas to break up the 130 nautical mile trip to our next destination. But it’s totally exposed and we’ve been warned to stop only if the conditions are optimal, which this time of year is a rarity because the tradewinds have kicked up causing quite a bit of swell. Watch now to see what happens!
