SAILING ALONE through the DANGEROUS MIDDLE to Fiji - PT. 1
We are setting sail on the longest voyage we have undertaken as a couple; 1900 miles from Bora Bora to Fiji across a stretch of water known as “The Dangerous Middle” where unpredictable weather conditions and poorly charted reefs are known to challenge the most seasoned sailors. Typically boats island hop across, allowing them to sail during shorter, favorable weather windows instead of hoping for 12 days of stable conditions. But we have our dog Yoda on board so we must sail nonstop to Fiji in order to import her. So we set our compass west, having faith in our ability to navigate our Seawind 1600 catamaran Wanderlust safely across this challenging stretch of ocean, to continue exploring and making the most of this one life.
