TESTED & TRANSFORMED: SAILING in New Zealand

They call Auckland, New Zealand the City of Sails, and after a month here, we can see why. But beyond the skyline and the sea of masts, we’ve discovered something else: a place where boats, and people, come to be repaired, tested, and maybe even transformed.

We’ve been invited aboard Aspra, a monohull that was participating in the Global Solo Challenge until her rigging began to fail in the Southern Ocean, and is now putting her strength to the test. Meanwhile, back on Wanderlust, our own repairs have us scratching our heads. But it’s not all work, we reconnect with our friends Erica and Warren from WEsail , hike ancient forests, and find new meaning in this port city that’s equal parts grit and grace.
