TESTING THE LIMITS of Sailing the Tuamotus
Sailing flat water lagoons, diving with sharks, admiring beautiful coral, wandering pink sand beaches, eating from the land and sea; our time sailing the Tuamotus has been amazing and these islands are quite possibly our favorite cruising destination yet. But it seems we’ve tempted fate and lingered in paradise a bit too long forcing us to select a less than ideal weather window to sail to Tahiti. Wind swings from 10 to 24 knots and 9 foot seas make for a challenging sail especially without autopilot. It seems Neptune is reminding us of the rules of the road.
