So many people dream about living on a boat and sailing around the world. But it’s a big risk. You need to leave everything behind. We’re sharing everything we’ve learned living on and sailing our new catamaran over 4000 nautical miles, the safety and comfort upgrades, how much it cost to maintain and run a new sailing catamaran for a year, and answer the question, would we do it again?

This week we’re embarking on our longest offshore passage EVER on our own, on our Seawind 1600 catamaran. We're #sailing south from Solomons Island to Norfolk, Virginia then on to Charleston, South Carolina and finally onto Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

We have been asked a certain question many, many times over the course of the past fourteen months living aboard out Seawind 1600 catamaran about the realities of boat life. Do you ever want to get off the boat?

This week we’re casting the lines from Liberty Marina and the Sail Away Catamaran fam to begin our journey south to Florida. But before departing we visited the Annapolis Maritime Museum to learn more about the history of the Chesapeake Bay and its role as the lifeblood of the ecosystem where Annapolis has developed.

We had been looking forward to the Annapolis Sailboat Show for months and it was finally here. Wanderlust was actually in the show and thousands of people were eager to check her out. Plus the Seawind 1600 is nominated for Cruising World magazine’s 2022 boat of the year so we took the judges for a fantastic sail on Chesapeake Bay.

This week we're sailing our catamaran under the Newport bridge for the last time for the foreseeable future on to Annapolis via New York City. Taking with us sweet memories of friends, new and old, and experiences we’ll treasure for a lifetime.

We’re leaving the bucolic waters of The Basin in Casco Bay, sailing our Seawind 1600 catamaran ultimately to Annapolis where we’ll have some boat work done to get Wanderlust ready for the Annapolis Sailboat Show. We're planning to make a number of stops along the way because we’re still waiting for our new autopilot RAM which we hope will be delivered to Newport, Rhode Island.

This week we continue exploring Nantucket Island, off the coast of Massachusetts, then sail our Seawind 1600 catamaran 60 nautical miles back to Rhode Island for some boat work in not the greatest of conditions. We visit Bartlett’s Farm, which has been on the island for over two hundred years, and grows boat loads of fruits and vegetables for the island’s residents. We loved chatting with Keegan about his family’s business.
